

Most of the courses are free of charge and they are organised for Familia Club members. In order to participate you need to be a member of Familia Club. Membership fee is 15 euros/calendar year. Become a member
The courses progress at a leisurely pace and contain practicing Finnish language and getting knowledge about Finnish society. They help to adjust to Finland, give possibilities to more advanced studies in Finnish language and help to maintain the already gained language skills. These courses are especially targeted for senior citizens and parents with small children. Immigrants who are not working can also participate if there are free places on the course.
Monday and Wednesday 10.30-12.00 (16.1.-23.5.)
The course helps you to learn to read and write in the Latin alphabet system. At the same time you learn basic every day life Finnish. Child care is not available during the course. A few free places left on the course. Register at the Familia Club office 10.-11.1. during opening hours. It’s good to have a Finnish or English speaking person with you when registering. The course is for beginners. Doesn’t require any previous studies in Finnish language, but you need to know how to read and write in Latin alphabet. Childcare is available during the course. This workshop is meant especially for women who can’t read or write. In the workshop Finnish language is learned by using arts. Directed by Riitta Rantaniska and Jade Tamminen. The group is available for everyone who is interested and manages basic Finnish language, no registration required. It’s possible to join at any time. The instructors are Red Cross volunteers. More information about the meetings contact papupata.kerho@gmail.com.
Wednesday 16.00-17.30 (18.1.-9.5.)
What is going on in Finland and around the world? Come to News Club discussion group and listen the latest news in easy Finnish. There will be coffee and tea service. You can attend every week or come when you have time. Directed by Ulla Ropponen and Päivi Lehtonen.
Friday 10.00–11.30 (20.1.-25.5.)
The group consists of maximum of five people who know the basics of the Finnish language. The members of the group are expected to participate actively and regularly. The group discusses topics that come from interests of the participants. Directed by Kaarina Koivuniemi and Tuija Partonen.
Saturday 14.30–16.30 (begins 14.1.)
The group is open to everyone who is interested and manages the basics of Finnish language, no registration required. You can attend at any time. Directed by Raija Sipilä.
Information meeting on Wednesday 15.2. 18.00–19.00 at Kalliolan opisto
Practice everyday Finnish or some other language with a conversation partner who speaks the language as their mother tongue. In the tandem training the practice is carried out in pairs so that both languages are spoken in turn. You need to have at least a basic command of the tandem language. The discussion topics, meeting places and times are arranged by you and your partner together. The training is organized in co operation with Kalliolan opisto. The languages, in addition to Finnish, are Hebrew, Japanese, French, Swahili, Czech and Russia.
