What is Familia Club ry?

Multicultural association Familia Club ry is a religiously and politically independent NGO, founded in 1988. It brings together Finnish people interested in multicultural issues and immigrants with different language and cultural backgrounds. The aim is to promote equality and non-discrimination in the Finnish society, and also to prevent racism and alienation.

Familia Club is one of the pioneers in the field of multicultural activities in Finland. The association promotes immigrants´ integration in the Finnish society and helps them in the fulfillment of their rights. One of the aims is also to encourage the immigrants to maintain their own languages and cultures.

The work is supported by Raha-automaattiyhdistys RAY and City of Helsinki. Familia Club is member of the Union of Friendship Associations in Finland and the Service Centre for Development Cooperation.

The work is supervised by the board elected in the general meeting of the association, consisting of the president and 5-7 members.

Projects

Duo Project

Duo Project aims to support intercultural couples and families by creating early support and counselling services such as discussion groups, relationship coaching and family training. Duo also providers advice and training officials, social workers, teachers and other stakeholders.

Moniheli Project

Moniheli Project aims to develop the multicultural forum for immigrant organisations around Helsinki.
