Mother & Baby groups are informal discussion groups in which mothers of intercultural families can talk to each other and share experiences in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can come to the group on your own or bring along your under 1-year-old baby. All mothers of intercultural families - Finnish and foreign - are welcome to participate.
Most themes discussed during the meetings would suit any mother of a small baby. However, what sets Duo's Mother & Baby groups apart from other similar groups, is that the themes also cover issues pertaining to intercultural families: the identity and language development of an intercultural and bilingual child as well as intercultural parenthood.
There are altogether seven weekly meetings in a group and each thematic meeting lasts about two hours. The topics cover issues such as: intercultural parenthood, intercultural relationship, bilingualism and the identity development of an intercultural child. The groups are facilitated by women who are mothers of small babies themselves. Light refreshements will be served and the group is confidential and free of charge.
Mother & Baby group is an excellent place for you and your Baby to meet people and make new friends! Please contact us for more information. We look forward to hearing from you and your Baby.

"Fun conversations, sense of belonging, new friends and new insights." "It was very nice and helpful meeting other moms and hearing their experiences. Besides getting practical information from the other mothers, it was very comforting to hear that other mothers face the same kind of uncertainty and troubles that I face." "What I got from the group was the feeling that I am not alone and positive feelings about all the situations and events that happened to me as a mum. I enjoyed the time and we are planning to continue the meetings." "The group has enabled me to make new friends and is a support group that I can turn to when I need advice or help." "This experience made me think of becoming a facilitator myself :)"
