The Duo Project for intercultural couples and families is proud to
present a new website for parents and parents-to-be in cooperation
with Family Federation (Väestöliitto). The Perheaikaa.fi website is in Finnish, but Duo
organises activities both in Finnish and in English on the website.
Duo's thematic chats on the website pertain to issues related to intercultural relationships and parenthood as well as child-raising in an intercultural family. The chats are facilitated by volunteers and Duo’s staff.

“Daddy will find your tutti” – Raising bilingual kids
You and your partner speak different languages and use a third to communicate with one another? Are you wondering if your child will speak both languages or just one? Are you searching for the best ways to support the development of both languages? There are many of us with the same thoughts and questions! Come and chat about the joys and challenges of raising bilingual - or multilingual kids - on Wednesday 23.5.2012 at 16.30-18.00. The English-speaking chat is facilitated by Duo Project's volunteers.
Chat for intercultural parents-to-be
Are you expecting a baby? How do you feel about becoming a father or mother soon? Do you have some concerns? Come and share your questions and thoughts with other future parents and parents of intercultural families on Friday 8.6.2012 at 18.30-20.00. The English-speaking chat is facilitated by Duo Project's volunteers.
"How do I participate in a chat?"
To participate in a chat you must first register as a user. Choose a username/nickname ("käyttäjätunnus") that you cannot be identified from). After registering, log in (“kirjaudu sisään”) to the website with your username and sign in for the chat. There’s room for fifteen participants in every chat and you can join in after the chat has started if there is room in the chat.
